Wednesday Open -NiS – Coke 600

Mike- P wrecked out about lap 150. Had a lot of trouble off turned four kept slapping the wall trying to spin out eventually I spent out hard and crashed hard.

Tony – RIP ROWDY

David – P1 !!!!!!!     had a top 5 car.  Brad and Rob Franklin were the class of the field all night, though my car was waking up at the end like it seems to do.  Was going to be happy with a p4.  Caution comes out with 13 t go.  All of us long runners are pissed.  I take 2 tires and make big swings on the adjustments.  And pass the leader with 4 to go on the inside to take my first oval win in years.  I am surprised how emotional a felt for what is supposed to be a “game”

Brad- P4 As David said Rob and I had the quickest cars all race on the long run. Had the race played out with it running green to the end I really felt I had speed left to pass him for the win. But a late race yellow would put us on two tires and I did not take a big enough swing at freeing the car up. Congrats to David but really felt like the racing gods took one away.

A Open

Brad W – P3 (Charlotte) started p5 and was in a good spot until an early caution. Restarting in p5 when the car in p3 decided to restart in 1st gear. He spins to the inside and I get a black flag for passing on the left. Go back to green and serve my drive through. Come out with leaders and get a lucky yellow that gets me back on the lead lap. From there it was drive back to the front. Ran the tires way too hard trying to make up ground  but drove back to top5 before a late yellow would send us to the pits. Restarted in p5 and would drive up to p2 before getting tight off of t2 and brush the wall. Dropped back to p3. A good practice for the 600.

Ring Meister

  • Mike – P Toyota GR 86. Started second was running second on the white and screwed up the carousel and hit the wall hard DNF.
  • Started fourth on lap one the 2 L had tangled going through the quiddlebachher hohe. I sneak through but got wheel damage. We turned about 5° to one side. About a four second gap at that point was able to hold it and finish off the race and win my first win of the week winner winner chicken dinner.  Number 152.
  • Then started first had several cars behind me for the longest time than one guy kinda sideswiped me and runs me off the track to take the lead. I fall back to fourth and have a good battle for third at the end where I caught him and got to his outside and then he ran me into the grass and then we wrecked pretty hard, but I got a P4.

Lotus 79 Grand Prix series

  • Ellis- P at mosport. I thought this race was only 45 minutes, but it turned out to be over two hours long. I made it to lap 24 before I basically fell out of the seat.  Parked at P 11 out of 14.

IMSA

  • Hall – Two wins at Road Atlanta – one by a guy being DQed for cheating at the start

Indy 500

  • David- Friday wrecked out on lap 7.   Saturday p12, should have been top 10 but walled it with 60 to go enough for 5 minutes damage.  Sunday, wrecked out by a guy passing under, letting him go and he still washes up.  Apology not accepted
  • Tom D – P2 after a 94 green flag run to end it.  Did not have enough speed to catch the winner.  Had a blast though
  • Tony P12 friday night was doing ok was 9th with 50 to go and going in for a green flag stop and was mirror watching a guy in my ass drafting me into the pits and sped and slam on brakes and walled it. Wrecked out sunday

Sim Racing PSA

Flaws In The Game

Carson “I’ve just I’ve just I mean I’ve been a fan of the sport ever since I was a kid.
I I kind of knew what race car driver I wanted to be and I kind of just saw flaws in the game of man like why is everybody letting everybody go? Like if
you know even like when I was late mall racing, everybody, you know, you’d have a 250 lap race, you knew everybody was just going to let everybody go in the first hundred and take care of each other even back then. And I was like,
man, well, if everybody’s just letting everybody go, I’m gonna be the one guy to just I’m gonna pass them all. It’s gonna be way easy. It’s way easier at the front. Yeah.
You know, at the start of the race, I was like, perfect. And so, I’m always just have thought about flaws in the game.

Mike’s Take – “This is exactly what we have been wondering about what is happened to the racing in iracing… We have all felt a shift from what the racing was like a few years ago in the sim, versus now… I think Carson’s young person mindset on you never give an inch has resulted in the current racing we see. A lot of iracers have shifted to this style…”

Honeycutt Gets The Win!

Having Issues?

Time Attack Advocate

Good morning, long time-listener here, (and longer time sim-racer) enjoy the show and love the focus being on iracing! …

I started my sim racing adventures back with the original Papyrus Indy Car racing and been what could be called a “hardcare sim racer” ever since. Anyway, Time Attack (TA)… over the past two years I have come to believe that TA is one of the most powerful (and underused) tools available on the service.

My reasoning for this belief? Competition! Not the competition to “win” fast lap awards but rather the utility to improve my own competitive edge by implementing the data available to my advantage. Beyond the more obvious advantage of seeing the line of the fastest guys in a particular car/track combo, I credit TA directly for many improvements to my race performance directly to TA.

The most recent example of this was in the Audi 80, I selected found a couple corners where I was not sure about the gear I was using in a couple corners, rather than using my precious sim time to test and run enough laps to gather meaningful data on the options, I went to TA and set the TA “race against” option to ghost someone who only 3rd or 4th fastest on lap time, but had a notably lower incident count than the fastest lap drivers had. I felt this would better reflect true race pace laps over the “hail Mary” laps that are often required to set a fastest lap.

Not only did I answer my questions about gearing but I happened to notice that in a one of the corners this driver had a much earlier apex than I in one of the corners, while I found this odd, I decided try his line, I noticed that my delta went red… I was about to mentally pat myself on the back for “knowing better” – BUT… he was lined up much better for the following turn than my typical line; and carrying much more entry speed on the following corner than I was capable of – in summary, between verifying gear selection and the line change in the combination of two corner I set a new PB by over a half second! Great return in less than 10 minutes of work!

I use TA whenever possible as part of my race preparation when familiarizing for upcoming races  – having the ghost car of a REAL driver (versus the AI) as a rabbit to chase makes the practice time replicate a more authentic competitive feel than just turning laps by myself or in the chaos of official sessions as they fill up.

The other thing TA is great for is when learning a new car and/or track combo – I find it gets me up to speed far faster than just watching track guides and lone practice sessions. In these situations, I recommend ghosting drivers with lap times around .5 to one second faster than what you run, when you beat their lap, simply select the next faster target and move on!

Just some food for thought, and, of course, your milage may vary… but I think there is a lot more to be gained in TA than just the bragging right to a fast lap.

That said, great show guys! Keep up the great work.

NASCAR iRacing Series

Friday Open – NiS – Texas

  • David – P5, finally got a top 5.  We had a long run near the end, I was terrible beginning of race, but car came to me.  On the long run moved from about 24th to somewhere in the top 10.  I saved the last of the adjustments in the PRS notes for the short run at the end and was able to make a couple of passes and hold on to 5th.
  • Brad- P8 Started p4 and ran at the front all the race. Drove up as high as p2 but failed to make the necessary changes to the car to keep up with the leaders. We had a very long green flag run and I over drove early in that run and really started to fall till a late caution saved me. Was able to throw some tires on and make it back to p8. Had only one chance for a start at Texas.

Sunday Open- NiS – Texas

  • David – P10,  had 16x for the last 40 laps.  Lap 1 got 4x from a blinker appearing in my hood.  Then 3 wrecks wright in front of me.  Again was slow at the beginning of the race but was able to really go on the last run with the final adjustments.
  • Kyle – P10 Started P6 and ran top 5 for 80% of the race and even led some laps. About 100 laps in we had back to back cautions and I screwed myself by not pitting the first time and pitting on the second caution, getting trapped in mid pack. Drove up towards the front and was set for a top5 finish with 8 to go we get a caution and I get caught speeding in the pits. Luckily a quick caution came and I drove up to the top 20. GWC and on the final lap a big wreck right in front of me and I dive down next to the inside wall to avoid the wreck coming out with a P10 finish. Thank you to David for coming in and spotting the end of the race for me.

Sunday Fixed- NiS – Texas

  • Mike- Pdnf. There were a lot of early cautions missed all those was running pretty clean. We eventually got in a fuel window. I thought I needed to get fuel in case it went green from here and that put me in the back with the garbage and then there was a big wreck and I couldn’t miss it and I had seven minute damage and decided to park it
  • Kyle – P20 Started P18 and survived lap1 turn1 But got collected by a spun car who wouldn’t hold their brake and slow rolled backwards into the carousel giving me wheel damage of 6 minutes. Spent the next 42 laps just trying to survive and pick up spots. Not how I wanted to spend my only race of the week just to ride around. Had Top 5 speed and consistency but stuck 6 laps down.

Wednesday Open -NiS – Watkins

  • David – P pimax logs out at beginning of race, so I come back 2 laps down only to get intentionally wrecked by p24 cause he didn’t like that I passed him clean in the carousel.

Thursday Open- NiS – Watkins

  • Chris – P 5. Wrecked it early and speeding on pit road. Cost myself the race!

Sunday Open- NiS – Watkin

  • David – Car blows up entering turn one with the normal down shift!

Official Series

Ring Meister

  • Mike – P1 dallara il 15. Indy next. Start at 13th worked my way forward and eventually got the lead right at the end winner winner chicken dinner get it done in the first attempt of the week.  Win number 143.
    • Then tried two in a row started Paul position, but wrecked out, trying too hard at the carousel stuffed it in the wall DNF
    • Then started on Pole. Kept the lead the whole race had a guy behind me between 4 and six seconds back. Was able to hold the gap racing real hard and take the win again number 145.
    • Started first and let every lap one guy got to the back of me and net coated into the wall once he hit me and after that I went on to win again this is win number three out of four tries tonight
    • Then again started second this time got to the lead at the end vinyl app. Some guy tried to dive it in there and took a pulled out enough.
    • Then on Tuesday, I run again and start from the pool and end up winning the race. That’s four out of six.
    • Then wrecked out on my own
    • Now first race of the new week where a different car, the Audi GTO 90 and guess what started second and lead from turn one lap on every lap and won the race winner winner chicken dinner also had the best laugh of the race with a 654 and a 20.4 second gap at the end over the entire field very satisfying wind to get it on the first attempt number 148
    • Started first got away from people, but ended up making a mistake and going straight into the wall DNF
    • Then started second first place shoved it in the wall on the first corner. I took the lead and never looked back 22 second gap win number 149.
    • Then started first drove away from the field pretty much this time a 32nd gap to win number 150
    • Tuesday night start on First and had a guy stay with me for most of the race. I was slowly get gapping him. Eventually he wrecked and I went on the wind by a 31 second gap over the field win number 151.
    • Try it again finally top split started third got damaged before the start of the race when fourth wanted to be raced me to the line and put me in the wall. I continued on but wrecked at some point during lap two DNF.

Lotus 79 Grand Prix series

  • Ellis- P DNF had a great start went from 13th up to eighth go back to 10th was making little mistakes. I spun by myself a couple times and that slow speed came, but then I could tell I lost mental focus around lap 12 I was missing a couple quarters and next thing you know I was in the wall.
    • Then started 13th got the 10th on the first lap. I was letting people go though after that and gradually worked my way up to P5 from attrition until about 30 or 45 where I went over a curb a little too much and it snapped sideways and dumped me in the wall DNF. P-11 out of 16
    • Then I’m in top split near the back two or three rows in the back of a 32 car field standing start the Guy one row back but on the inside and I’m on the outside basically jumps to start tries to go up the middle but instead, he just drives over the top of me instead I’m not even halfway through first gear. I don’t even see it coming and I’m in the wall with no left front wheel DNF.

League / Hosted Races

IRLP All-Star Race

  •  Chris W – P11. Just had a blast with the old school The Winston all star race shootout. Wrecked in the last 10 lap shootout but that’s racing. Thanks to everyone who came out!

Grass Roots Racing

GTP/GT3 League – Spa Sprint Race

  • William W –  P1!! Quali P1 and fell to second. Rode there until the pits stops. Exiting the pits the top 4 cars literally came out phased into each other. Cycled to 3rd, leader had an oops with about 3 to go and moved to second. New leader had some awful luck with traffic on the last lap and was able to get a run at the end of the straight. Some contact in the chicane which was unfortunate but everyone agreed was a racing incident. Kept it together for the rest of the lap to take it home.
  • Road Atlanta – P1!!! My home track and one of the best on the service, but typically don’t have great luck here. Qualified 2nd and was able to get the lead around like 15 with a fantastic pass in the last turn with a little help from traffic. Little tangle between 2nd and 3rd behind me in turn 1 gave me some breathing room. Stretched the lead out to 3 seconds. They started to catch a bit but traffic helped spread things out again. Held on until the end to go back to back in the league. Feels good because the season had been mostly a disa

Elbows Out Racing League (LMP2 and GT3 Wednesday Nights)

  • William- Spa P4 – Qualified 2nd and rode there until the pit. 1st was fast and not sure I had anything for him. Less than optimal pit stop dropped me to 4th and that’s where I stayed. Good race, but could have a been a better result.
  • Road Atlanta – P2. Qualified pole by half a second. I love this place. Led the whole first stint, got out to a 4 second lead, but with traffic went into the pit with a 2 second lead. Little slow into the pits, but not bad. However on exit I got on the gas too fast and almost lost it. Between that and the guy in 2nd going into the pits a lap after he came out right in front of me. I normally would have been able to get around him on cold tires, but LMP2 backmarker traffic was in the way for the first 2 of his out laps and he was able to get heat into the tires. Spent the rest of the race absolutely on his bumper, but traffic seemed to appear everytime I got a chance at a run. He had a really bad move under braking with about 15 min left when I got a run into turn 10. He apologized after the race, but that was really the last serious chance I got. With 2 laps to go we both went off track trying to pass 2 lapped GT3 that were fighting for position. We both made contact with one of them, but that ended any chance I had pretty much. Good result, and was happy with it in the moment, but now feel like I let one get away.

Major Series –  INDY 500

  • David – P3, Tyler Beaman had the fast car all race.  He was going to loose and me finish 3rd on fuel milages, but a late caution came out.  I still held on for 3rd

Hosted-

  • Ellis – P Chris McGuire hosted supercars at Homestead
    • Then a random hosted truck race at Talladega with about 50 people worked my way forward a few times ended up at the end P3 almost
    • Pick up cop at Charlotte absolutely destroyed in the first lap. DNF.
    • Pick up cup at Charlotte started fifth and finish T3

NASCAR iRacing Series

Friday Open – NiS – Talladega

  • Tony -P18 got the annual Tony-dega pole but decided to fall to the back from the pack was way to aggressively squirrely. Smart choice. Avoided a few big ones. 3 gwcs and got shoved out 10th on the final restart. I am the kyle busch of the Tifosi cup.
  • Brad- P12 – A normal iRacing super speedway race. Guys driving like idiots and yelling all kinds of obscenities at each other. Collected in multiple accidents from people driving over their heads. Worst was a driver 22 laps down that had to be in the front group and just turned across a lead lap car and I ended up with 7 minutes of damage. Limped around through the GWC and gained a bunch of spots.

Sunday Open- NiS – Talladega

  • Justin – P wrecked out
  • Tony – P31 pole again led some laps stayed out of trouble. Green flag stop and the brakes in this stupid car caused me too fast for entering while in first. And also slid in box but while serving penalty caution came out so worked out ok restarted 12th but got pushed out side of the line to end of pack. Few laps later while in line cars in front checked up i went to the right to avoid and got hit and sent into the wall ending my day
  • Tom – P wrecked out

Sunday Fixed- NiS – Talladega

  • Mike- Pdnf. Wrecked out on lap 74 came together with the guy on the outside Lane. I was on the inside. I went a little high. He went way low. We touched nine minutes damage I’m done.

Wednesday Open -NiS – Texas

  • Tony – P3 with my homestate hero finally getting his first cup i told the team if Carson got the win i would switch to a Chevy and seemed to work out well. Started 12th but stayed in top 10 all race. Caution with 15 to go did the 10 to go pit adjustments from PRS setup notes and restarted 1st lead laps til 2nd dive bombed me in 1 and got me out of my line and just couldn’t regain the lead. Setup was good on a longer run if we could actually get 1
  • David – P25, didn’t have speed, but was going to finish top 20 but a driver that chris warned me about came up across the guy in front of me’s nose and of course no where to go.  One step closer to a major decision.

Thursday Open- NiS – Texas

  • Mike- P6- pretty  uneventful race car was fast. I had a few moments where I almost spun out, but was able to keep it underneath me with a ton of focus and finish for a nice top 10.
  • Tony – P7 same as Wednesday night fast. Led green flag laps but middle of race got sandwiched into the wall causing a minute and half damage which was fixed. Made my way back through the field while actually having fun. Late race run over drove out of 4 and walled myself knocking the toe out while in 4th with 3 to go and fell to 8th for the checkered. Checked result later and a driver got DQ’ed and gained a spot

Official Series

Production car challenge

  • Ellis – P 14 Nürburgring- Toyota GR 86 had a couple of incidents and finished P 14

IMSA

  • Brad W – P9 (Imola) Finally got a chance to run one on Sunday. Even though there was a chance of rain all week, every result I checked was dry. Of course I load in and it’s pouring. The track was 67% wet with rain around 25%. So glad that I ran the GRR race on Tuesday as that prepped me for racing in the rain. Only had one real oops moment but managed to avoid a bunch of spinners at different times. Was running p11-12 most of the race but grabbed a few stops after the pitstop.
  • William –  P18. Messed up 2nd quali lap and started P18. Finished P18. My car was just a punching bag for other cars the whole race. 8x from getting driven into by P2s early in the race plus some off tracks put me on 13 by the last 4 laps. Then a slow guy who caused an incident with another car 2 laps prior drives into me on the last lap giving me the drive through that I couldn’t serve. Miserable race. A little bit my fault for messing qualifying, but man not much I could do about the rest of it.
    • P10 – Decent race finally, first time I’ve seen green IR in a bit. Top split, and this was a high SOF. Was little slow in quali, but not as bad as before. Little difficulty with traffic, but decent race considering what I’ve been going through.

DTM

  • William- P Lastish. Not sure where I actually finished. Before I started practicing for this I actually hated RBR, but now I really don’t mind it, might even like it. I’ve been running multiclass for so long I forgot how competitive single series GT3 can be. 2nd split of 14. Qualified about 8th, got to 6th from some deaths, and then the top 9 or so ran within 2 seconds of each other for the next 13 laps. On lap 13 a Porsche that I had gotten by got a run to going towards turn two and went to my outside. Going into the braking zone he bodyslams me and I go for a ride through the turn taking out 4th place with me. When it happened I thought I could have given him more room, but i’ve watched it several times since then and I don’t feel like I did anything wrong. He either lost it on the curb, or is just a terrible driver/intentional, but still. Was 2 laps down after the tow, so just parked it. At least I didn’t do this one to myself.

League / Hosted Races

Grass Roots Racing

GTP/GT3 League – Laguna Seca Endurance Race

  • William W –  P9 – Self sabotage once again. Enduro race here. Qualified 6th which was about 2 places behind where I thought I was going to. Got to 4th early and ran close to 2nd and 3rd for the first stint, gained both those spots in the pits. Was running in 2nd after about 3 seconds clear of third when just went wide in the turn before the kink. Lost the rear and car went hard into the wall.

Hosted-

  • Ellis – P      Chris McGuire hosted trucks at Michigan add green flag stops, but I got a black flag on it exit so quit
    • Car of tomorrow at Talladega there was a wreck. One of the hosts accused me of being the wrecker when I wasn’t and it was a little awkward and I ended up quitting.
    • Then BMW M2’s at Daytona oval, we didn’t make it even a lap wrecked out

NASCAR iRacing Series

Friday Open – NiS – Kansas

  • David – P14, bad racing all night, no long runs, last run a car wrecks a lap car right into me
  • Tony -P22 just hanging out in top 10 all race but 30 to go and on fresh tires took the middle in 2 and self spun into the inside wall ending my night
  • Brad- P13 Better than Wednesday but  an ill timed yellow during green flag stops would cost a top 10 finish. Actually had some longer runs but a yellow right after making a green flag stop killed my race. I was able to get back on the lead lap but restarting in the 20s made getting back to the front hard. A late race restart and a car getting out of shape would back me up to p13 as I lost ground coming to the checkered.

Sunday Open- NiS – Kansas

  • Tony – P10 self spun early in same damn spot. Just minute and half of damage went lap down getting it fixed. Got lap back ½ through via wave around. Huge wreck in front of me on that restart giving me some more damage but enough to stay on lead lap. Final restart with 10 to go went from 16th to 10th il take it.
  • Greg -P36

Wednesday Open -NiS – Talladega

  • Chris – P 17. Was 7th when a lap car tried to block all 3 lines of the pack. We stocked up and wrecked. They got the lucky dog. Solvaged a P17
  • David – P13,  ran top 8 all race, get hit when a car spins exiting pits. As a result loose the lead pack, the shit luck continues
  • Brad- P32 Wrecked 9 laps in by one driver being over aggressive from the very first lap. Have I mentioned that I hate drafting tracks?
  • Tyler – P12. 8x. Could not get through the pack. It’s was low line only. Wreckfest at the end.
  • Joe-P7 was 2nd off 4 and had a run on the leader and he drifted high and I went in the hole and he wrecked both of us. I had 0x until he wrecked us the found me on the cool down lap and hit me again giving me 8x.

Thursday Open- NiS – Talladega

  • Mike- P dnf. I couldn’t stop the car on a green flag stop. I pushed the brakes in like 80% and it won’t stop and I spun out getting on Pitt Road and had started the tail in and then penalty under green flag stop and go with a 15 second hole eventually got a lucky dog and then got in another rack trying to limp it home on a green white checker but another guy wrecked the field and I was involved DNF
  • Chris – P 7. Was 3rd on GWC got wrecked when getting pushed by 4th with no pace to go. Badly damaged I stayed out and could still draft. Went P12 to P7.
  • Joe-P14

Official Series

A Fixed

  • Mike- Pdnf— was it a pretty high split and the one car switches lanes goes up changes as mine comes back down I’m there. I barely touch him and wreck the entire field.

Ring Meister

  • Mike – P the Kia Optima started on first place and wrecked out on my own while leading the race
    • Then started first and let every lap had a guy chasing me, but gapped him slowly eventually, a six second gap and winner winner chicken dinner went on the first night of the week and career win number 143
    • Then try it again started first fell the third. It was top split, but then I hit the curb wrong and spun it out DNF.

League / Hosted Races

Grass Roots Racing

GTP/GT3 League – Imola Sprint Race

  • William W –  P10- it rained. While I’ve gotten to where I actually don’t mind racing in the rain something was just awful about this race. I spun in quali and it made me reset to the pits so only my first lap counted. Started P15 and the train was agonizingly slow. Was scared to make moves because I didn’t want to murdered anyone, did end up murdering someone. Started to climb a bit but then self spun twice trying to push. Just an awful night.
  • Brad W – P8 Yes it rained. The track was drivable but the spray early on was bad. I made too many errors and caused myself multiple lost positions. I continued to get more comfortable in the wet which would lead to a spin. Track wetness at about 50%-67% is the sweet spot for racing. Any thing higher than that is just miserable.

Elbows Out Racing League (LMP2 and GT3 Wednesday Nights)

  • William- P6 – Man I’ve been my own worst enemy lately. On the dry I have serious pace here and love the track. I was .8 off in practice so I was a little worried, but stuck it on the pole. Got a great start and had an almost 1 second lead by the down hill double right. Was thinking just be smooth and I walk away with this, and that’s when I did about everything wrong you could in that turn. Too light on the brakes, missed a downshift and off the track I go. Somehow didn’t hit anything, but fell to 9th by the time I could recover. After that was real hard to try to get back through the field with traffic and everything. Also just atrocious driving from some of the lapped GT3 cars, two different ones were doing 10mph on the racing line the the apex of a corner. Got to 6th after the pit but by that time I was 12 or so seconds behind 5th and just couldn’t recover more. I feel like I’ve seen an improvement in the overall skill level of my driving over the past few months but I have got to limit these mistakes.

MEC Mosport 4 Hours

  • Will, Brad and William – P20  I do not want to talk about it. We could or should have won this race. We did everything right, me and Will were two of the fastest people all week in practice and pre-qual. Will and Brad had fantastic stints. We did absolutely everything right and it all came apart as soon as I sat in the car. First we got BONED by a safety car that came out as soon as I’m exiting the pit on the driver change for my first stint it trapped us in 11th or 12th after we came in 3rd AND it let people who were off cycle on the pit come in and reset and set up perfectly when originally they would have had to make an extra stop. Even with all that I’m picking off spots on my first stint, up to 8th or so when everyone blinks twice and then disappears. It was clearly something with my internet, all programs had issues, and even my cell phone didn’t have cell service to send a discord message to let the guys know what happened so I have no idea what went on. By the time it let Will in the car we were 2 laps down and day done. Crushing.

Hosted-

  • Ellis – P pick up cup at Phoenix DNF. Had a couple rookies doing unsafe, rejoin, and wrecked the leaders out.

NASCAR iRacing Series

Friday Open – NiS – Bristol

  • Tony -P wrecked early
  • Brad- P9 Less cautions than Wednesday but still Martinsville 2.0. Was collected in too many other peoples’ messes. Glad to be gone from here until the fall.

Sunday Open- NiS – Bristol

  • Tony – P24 I want Bristol dirt back at least that was more fun than this bull. It was ok when we had more than 4 laps green. Caught in a dumbass deciding to stop middle of the middle grove out of 4 and just asspacks him. Can I have 1 week where I’m not being ass packed by something?
  • Greg -P9 – Raced in the top 6 all race until green white checkered loose on bottom, spotter kept saying I had a broken left rear tire after some contact on a long run but never did any repairs for it.

Wednesday Open -NiS – Kansas

  • Justin – P2
  • Chris – P6
  • Brad- P17 Started p11 and was in the top 10 most of the race. 13 cautions at a 1.5 mie track is stupid. Lots of guys just running people over. I was headed towards a top 10 only to get driven through coming off of T4. I’m drifting up to the wall as normal on exit and the yahoo behind me thought there was enough room for him to hove it in. Not so much, almost 5 minutes of damage and finishing the race with the steering wheel at 3 o’clock, aint fun.
  • Tom – P20 after crashing early.   My fault.  Lost it under brakes trying to miss a wreck
  • Tyler – P P8! Not bad after a 5 month hiatus to rebuild the rig. Fun racing with y’all again.

Thursday Open- NiS – Kansas

  • Mike- P wrecked out. Had ping warning from the beginning. I asked Siri to tell me how many tires that we have and it didn’t even work no Internet I never lost connection, but it was driving me crazy and I ended up wrecking in the first wreck by myself and then the second caution happened up ahead of me some guy slammed on the brakes and I plowed in and destroyed my car eight minutes damage so I parked it.

Official Series

Ring Meister

  • Mike – P street stock. Started on pole. Second place stayed with me within one to three second range. The entire race tried to get past me on the last straight away with the slipstream but wasn’t able to and I was able to hold on for my 141st career win winner winner, chicken dinner.
    • Then started first again second decided he wanted to try to be the leader on the start or I guess go side-by-side through turn right before the start finish anyway he ran himself across my nose wrecked then as I came back on track, he dumped me intentionally I got going back again from eighth and made my way back up to third even though I had heavy damage. I should’ve just let him beat me to the line and let him get black flagged. I was dumb for trying to drive in side-by-side with him on that corner even though I was a leader.
    • Then started first ended up, wrecking out while leading.
    • Then started first and got totally creamed from behind DNF
    • Then we change to the Pontiac solstice. Started 23 out of 28 and finished a respectable P5 as I drove up through the field.
    • Started a dead last P 26 and finished. P5 drove up through the field again a great race.
    • Started on first kept lead through most of it, but had three or four cars staying with me. I couldn’t shake them final lap going up the hill I’m leading. I’m looking in the mirror. They’re going three wide for a second and obviously that doesn’t work and they wreck out and I’m able to drive away and win the race winner winner chicken dinner career win number 142
    • Start second finish fourth nice clean race had nothing for the leaders

League / Hosted Races

Grass Roots Racing

GTP/GT3 League – Long Beach Endurance Race

  • William W –  P7. My own worst enemy here. Qualified a bit back in 6th as I was overdriving the car early. Figured it out in the first stint, but on the pit exit I ran all over the cone and got the penalty. I was mad during the race as I thought there was no way I messed that up, but going back and looking at the replay I turned probably a whole car length early. Drive through put me back to 12th, spent the rest of the time trying to get back up. Made it to 7th but ran out of time chasing down more spots.

Elbows Out Racing League (LMP2 and GT3 Wednesday Nights)

  • William- P7 – Real disappointing result but there was really nothing to do here. Top 10 or so pro drivers in this league has become ultra competitive. Had extreme pace. Q2nd, lost pole by .004 seconds. Settled into second on the start, but for the first 15 laps the top 5 were all within 1.5 seconds of each other. I made two small mistakes during this time sliding the fronts allowing 3rd to pass me and then 4th to get along side. 4th squeezed me going into the turn before tower and I went off track, no damage and he apologized after, but 5th made it to my bumper. Traffic allowed him to get a pass, but on the same lap that he completed the pass he lost it coming out of LeMans going onto the back stretch. I thought he saved it, but it snapped on him again and I had no where to go. T-Boned him and got massive damage on the front. Thankfully it was in the pit window, and close to the pit so I was able to dip in and get my repair, but still lost 2 spots and 5 seconds to them. Came out and tried to catch up, but everytime I’d get to their bumper I’d get really unlucky with traffic. Needed a few more laps but came home 7th. Disappointing result but nothing to be done.

Listener Topic Idea: Fast Repairs

Rob Lowell 21Yesterday at 6:00 AM

Fast repairs, the worst idea in league racing? I’ve found over the last year that in leagues without fast repairs the races are cleaner and more respectful as guys want to survive and finish. I know a lot of leagues live by the fast repair and there’s a lot that don’t. Not sure if you’ve covered the topic before or not.

NASCAR iRacing Series

Wednesday Open -NiS – Bristol

  • Chris – P19 – stopped to miss a wreck and someone had ARCA breaks. Had 8min damage and repaired it all only to get a black flag for passing before the line due to a damaged car that went 75mph. It’s been an awful year. Try again Friday.
  • David – P caught up in shit, fix 7 minutes of damage and get 3 laps back only to get caught up in a shit again, and then get penalized cause iRacings Race Control is a sack of shit
  • Brad- P5 Started p11, what a messy race. 26 cautions for 107 laps at Bristol, literally Martinsville 2.0. Ran in the front with Justin till past halfway. Pitted around lap 150 but would not clear a car while making a pass on the inside and wreck myself. Went a lap down and had almost 3 minutes of damage. Was able to get 90 seconds of the damage fixed and back on the lead lap. Then it was just avoiding the carnage over the resulting laps. Really disappointing because this track used to have very good clean races.

Thursday Open- NiS – Bristol

  • Mike- P7– I had to drive through penalty from too many incident points. A little past halfway struggled on with 20 points from that point forward was about four minutes damaged 28 cautions later I finished P7.

Official Series

A Open

  • Brad W – P20. (Bristol)started on pole but did not get a great start (still a little gun shy from jumping the start at MArtinsville). Settled into p2. Was starting to run down the leader after 15 laps or so. He checked up a little mid-corner and I had to jump on the brakes to avoid it. That unsettled the car and I spun in front of the field. Hit by multiple cars. The car was damaged but tried to keep going to stay on the lead lap. We would have a long run and with the damage I was killing the RF. Had to pit under green after going a lap down. This would drop me to 3 laps down and would end up going one more down while trying to get damage fixed. VERY FAST set this week from Premier Racing Setups, just need some luck to go our way.

Ring Meister

  • Mike – P street stock started 14th turn one lap. One guy doesn’t know I’m inside him sideswiped me into the grass. I continue on and the same guy tries to block me as I try to go around him and we wreck again DNF.
    • Then start a 26th got the fourth by the end of lap one and eventually finish P3 podium after a legendary run through the field
    • Then started ninth got the second, screwed up the carousel twice  but eventually finished P3 another great podium
    • Start a 16th got up to eighth but then got wrecked out
    • Start at 11th got up to third had a good battle for third at the end where it was chickened we both wrecked off, but I finished ahead of him
    • Started seventh got the second, but then crashed out
    • Then I finally get qualified with a 757.5 after many failed attempts
    • Then started, Paul position, kept the lead for the first half of the race and then stuffed it in the wall
    • Started first led the first part of the race then spun out on my own, fell a second and was able to finish P2. Super frustrating.
    • Cut copy paste from previous race exact copy. P2 after wrecking out from the lead.
    • Started First spun out from the lead this time wrecked out DNF

League / Hosted Races

Grass Roots Racing

GTP/GT3 League – Mexico City Sprint Race

  • Brad W – P I hate this track. I’m never good here and even when I try to like it, I don’t. Started mid pack and would never make it forward. So easy to be faster than the car ahead but never able to make a move. Ended up getting collected when a car ahead spun in the stadium and I could not miss them.

Hosted-

  • Ellis – P13 pick up car at Phoenix. Started the 10th got the ninth. Some guy caught me from behind and tried to get under me. Didn’t quite work eventually he used me up and put me to the wall and I fell back to finish P3 first race back since we got the rig up and running.
    • Chris McGuire hosted Talladega 87S. Had a good run going at the end came up through the pack, but then got wrecked out. Some guy came across my nose.
    • Old Indy cars at Pocono got wrecked out
    • Then radical SRH at Concord motorsports Park got wrecked out

NASCAR iRacing Series

Friday Open – NiS – Martinsville

  • David – P33
  • Tony -P8 finally broke a streak of no top 10s since end of September last year. Typical shit Martinsville 29 cautions dont think we got more than 5 green flag laps In. Mostly stayed clean
  • Brad- P2 I tried to throw this one away also. Started p2 and spun the tires on the start. Managed to collect both teammates, Justin and Greg. From that on I was all about getting back to the front. We had way too many yellows but it’s Martinsville. I would finally get back to the top 5 with about 50 las to go and flip back and forth between P2/3 over the closing restarts. Managed to come out on the good side of the swing and grabbed a P2.

Sunday Open- NiS – Martinsville

  • David – P caught up in mess as usual   fast car and never a good finish to show

Official Series

C-OPEN Talladega

  • Tony- P-win wow ever see a man cry on a Saturday morning? That was me. Huge shout out to PRS for a great truck set. And shout out to Tyler Williamson for letting me know trucks were at dega. Started 3rd and wasn’t comfortable with the truck for about ½ race. Survived the chaos. GWC restarted 8th pushed the outside line then shot the middle in the right spot and got the win. This is my first win in anything since August of 2022. It’s been a long time and feels great

A Open

  • Brad W – P3/9 (Las Vegas). Track is much hotter this week than we ran in NiS. That is a good thing because the cars are not all over top of each other. The first race missed my pitstall and had to restart from the rear. Drove the life out of the tires to get back toward the front. Got lucky with a yellow at the right time for tires and was able to hold on to a P3. The second race was a mess of errors on my part. Self spun in T2 and eventually T4. That forced me to pit and lose 3 laps. Was able to get one lap back being quicker than the leaders and took a wave by for the second. That set me up to get another and the lucky dog. That worked out and once back on the lead lap I was able to make it back into the top 10 as the race finished out.

Special Event – Sebring 12HR

  • Brad, Will, William and Jacob – P5. We started mid-pack only to be collected in a mess in Sunset Bend on the start. That would drop us back about 5 spots but put Jacob dealing with lots of slower cars. He would have a real odd self spin coming through sunset that would relegate us to last. From that point on it was all about getting positions back. We did not fuel save for the first half of the race in order to regain track position. Once we had worked our way back to the top 10 we realized that we were on a very off cycle pit strategy. We would gain positions over the last few hours getting as high as P2 but with having to make an additional stop, we knew we would be denied a podium finish. In the end I believe we passed more cars than anyone else and we were happy to grab a top 5. Definitely have figured out that fuel saving is the way to win these until we get safety cars.
  • David, Kyle, Tom, Greg – DNF

NASCAR iRacing Series

Friday Open – NiS – Darlington

  • David – P9 – streak over, time to start a new one
  • Brad- P7 What a race of ups and downs. Was spun twice but was able to battle back to the top 10 both times. The race craft was definitely lacking at Darlington this week.
  • Kyle – P3 Started P5. The car was so comfortable in the corners and was just on rails. Got up to P2 and pulling in the leader. Lap 102 Caution comes out after 50ish lap run and a car was stopped on the track and I couldn’t avoid him and T boned him for 90 seconds of damage. Get the damage fixed and the car came ot life again. Worked my way back from P11 to bring it home P3.
  • Joe – P26

Sunday Open- NiS – Darlington

  • David – P9    great long run car, running top 5, terrible on short run especially cause we had 3 cautions in a row and the track changed
  • Kyle – P5 Started P5 and kept it up near the front the whole race. Had several 20-30 lap runs but got caught up in 2 GWC wrecks and had to settle for a P5 after running int he the top 3 most of the race.

Wednesday Open -NiS – Martinsville

  • Kyle – P18 Welcome to the iPacing 200. Started P19 and worked my way up to P2 after a half dozen cautions. Racing the leader on a mini run off of 4 and self spun and then hit by every car but the pace car I’m pretty sure even all the spectators’ cars hit me as well. Couldn’t avoid the wrecks in front of me because no one holds the brake when they’re wrecking. Got a drive through close to the end and got spun with 30 to go and got high centered on the turn 4 curb. Decided to avoid anymore x’s and just fixed my 5 minutes of damage and came back out with 4 to go.
  • David – P26, pretty much had a mid pack car, something weird happened twice including the last lap.  When racing hard in lane 2, i got on the brakes and the car just shot to the right, not by any contact.  I have never felt this in this car before.
  • Brad- P23 Self-inflicted poor finish. Started on pole but went just a second too soon and was black flagged. Was not paying attention when coming into the pits (turning off all pit items) and sped. That left me two laps down. When I came out of the pits it was right as the yellow came out. I pulled up beside the ace car but it never told me to pass it or stay behind it. I passed it as I thought I came out before it did. Nope passing under yellow, another hold. Went 4 laps down and stayed there the whole race. Due to attrition I went from 37 to 23 at the finish. I had a hard time going to sleep last night thinking about all of the unforced errors in this race.

Thursday Open- NiS – Martinsville

  • David – P15 start on pole, same guy spins his tires 3 tires on late restarts and destroys my car the third time.  Some how an apology isn’t enough when you make the same mistake 3 fucking times in a row

It wasn’t caused by anyone being super aggressive or making a bad move, the guy in 4th just lost it when he hit the brakes on cold tires, collected the guy in 5th, and both of them bounced off the tire barrier back into the track. There wasn’t much place to go for the people right behind it, and there were still 32 cars coming through. Out on lap 2 for my fast repair and then it was just pushing from there. After all pit stops were completed I think I was around P11, and ran down the next spots. I have some huge pace here, wish I’d have gotten to test it with the leaders.
  • Brad W – P8 Started around p15 or so. I avoided the massive wreck in Sunset on the start (had damage though). Decided to stay out and try to keep track position and make the best of the damaged car. Ended up getting collected by a spinning GTP driver (I think he had about 7 spins over the race). That gave me nose damage and made the rest of the first stint miserable. Used fast repair at first stop and stayed around p7-9. I did not take tires at second stop but did not have the pace of Westbrook as he ran me down over the closing laps. Good practice for this weekend.

NASCAR iRacing Series

Friday Open – NiS – Las Vegas

  • David – P19 HAPPENS AGAIN, get taken out by a car who cant hold his line when its three wide and he’s off pace.  Other than a COTA race i’ve been wrecked every single nis race
  • Tony -P something something caught in wreck got stuck 3 laps down
  • Brad- P20 Wrecked again. Another race that I spent 80% of the race running in the top 5-10 to only get wrecked late in the race. We had a stackup on a restart that caused a huge stackup on the start. Was 5 wide at one point. Only to get shuffled to the back trying to be safe, then collected in someone else’s crap.

Sunday Open- NiS – Las Vegas

  • Tony – P30 something. On this week of 1023 ways to be wrecked. A redbull car wrecked a Logano car that i was gonna miss til said Logano car jerked his wheel to the right and ended my night
  • Brad – P27 Wrecked again! Another race where I run in the top 5-10 but to be collected in another mess. This was caused by a driver that was laying back and jumping every restart. He managed to pass about 8 cars this time and would then drive down 2 lanes getting into T1. This would collect about 8 of us. Too much damage, day is done. I did protest him and used 3 of the most egregious restarts as examples. Received the normal response from the stewards, which tells me that nothing happened. He was racing later that day.
  • Greg -P19 Wrecked racing for a top 5 late had 7 minutes damage early in the race, lots of cautions let me repair all of it and be competitive again
  • Kyle – P5 Started P10. Lap 6 I snap loose in turn 3 and slam the wall for 3 minutes of repairs. Repaired the damage over the next 4 cautions. Dropped back to P33 and just worked my way forward through the field. Car was tight on the exit of 4 and just had to back my corner entry up and save tires while still moving forward. Lap 105 raced a guy for 12th and I took the high line into 3 and he just didn’t even check up or attempt to turn and knock me in the Left Rear. I’m able to save it but fell back to P21 and had to fight my way forward again getting up to 10 with 2 laps to go. A caution falls after a 40+ lap run. Pit for tires and a splash of fuel come out 17. Restart and the leader wrecks taking the green triggering our 2nd GWC and I move up to 14th. Restart again and turn 1 3 drivers wreck moving me up to 11th and our 3rd GWC. Restart and it stays clean and I just focus on running the bottom line and squeezing a couple of cars to end up with a P5.

Sunday Fixed- NiS – Las Vegas

  • Mike- P24- got wrecked in a incident around lap 30 car was never the same and slow just limited around forever. It eventually got a drive-through penalty on the final green white checker P 24.

Wednesday Open -NiS – Darlington

  • Justin – P1 Got a couple lucky cautions
  • Chris – P8
  • David – P22, started in the pits thinking of course there will be a caution.  We go 60 laps, never get my lap back until about 30 to go on a wave around, and get the passing under yellow bullshit even though i never passed anyone.  Additionally first run, I ran a guy down, a car in front of us is rolling but is on the slower side.  I hold my lane to use him as a pick and the car on the out side intentionally doors me out of the way.  I warn him that when I get back to him he best move out of the way.  He didn’t so I ran him hard in turn 1 and he gave himself 4 minutes of damage on the wall.  Why even fight someone for a position when they have run you down from starting in the pits, then hit them on purpose, and then refuse to not continue to fight for a position your going to loose. And I just watch the replay I didn’t even drift up, he’s just a talentless hack who cant run side by side and put him self in the wall
  • Brad- P34. Wrecked again while running in the top 10. Inside a guy coming off T2 and he can’t keep it off the wall.  Bounces off hits me and I can’t get it turned to avoid the inside wall. Left front clobbered. Too much damage.
  • Adam- Started 35th.. 4th with 13 to go and spun the tires on the restart and spun. Got back to 11th. Feels good after a couple years off driving this car to be competitive out of the gate

Thursday Open- NiS – Darlington

  • David – Pwrecked, car side ways, no chance,  17 in a row now in nis.  I’m now ready to pause my iRacing Membership, this isn’t enjoyable, and they aren’t fixing shit that needs to be fixed.

Official Series

A Open

  • Brad W – P18 (Darlington) The first race of the week started off great, running p3. Long green flag run and a green flag pit stop. Only to have a yellow come out during which trapped a bunch of us a lap down. I’m able to get the wave by coming to one to go. I’m catching the back of the pack coming off on T4 to take the green and then my spotter yells at me to wait for a car that is on the BACKSTRETCH! Yep, BF for passing under yellow. Race ruined.
    • P19 Top split running around 13th. Making my green flag stop and speed coming into the pits. 40 second hold, race ruined. At least I could blame myself for this one.

League / Hosted Races

Grass Roots Racing

GTP/GT3 League – Silverstone Sprint Race

  • William W –  P10. I’m not the greatest at this track. I have a little pace, but it just hasn’t clicked for me and I can’t find those last few tenths. Surprised myself and qualified 5th. Made it through the horrible start because the only option is a short parade lap here and the gt3s start in the hairpin chicane before the line. Then around turn 6 I don’t respect the cold tires and send myself into the outside wall. Small hit but gave me wheel damage. Was able to drive it to the pit window, but lost a lot of time. Was able to get back up to 10th after everyone pit and got some ams on pace, but overall just a miserable night for me. Extra sad as this is the only race I’ve really done in the last 3 weeks.

NASCAR iRacing Series

Friday Open – NiS – Phoenix

  • David – P7, just got lucky towards the end with a 2  tire stop, but still had to fix minutes of damage and work my way up
  • Brad- P34 Started p4 but was collected in an accident on lap 35 that ended my race with too much damage. Not sure that I have ever had a good Phoenix finish in NiS.

Sunday Open- NiS – Phoenix

  • Tony – P30 caught in a wreck early on, same ole song and dance.
  • Greg -P4 – top 8 all race had 2 – 50 plus long runs and green flag pitstops
  • Kyle – P8 Started P15 Behind Tony. Slow start to the race with plenty of cautions. Lap 18 running P6 and P7 over drives turn 1 spinning me and collects tony and sends him to the inside getting T-Boned by another car ending Tony’s day. Repaired the damage and had a fast car. Definitely a long run setup. Going from 23rd to 2nd and running down the leader after a 65ish lap green flag run. Pitted with 60 to go and restarted 2nd. Couldn’t find the speed and grip I needed to pass the leader and slowly faded to finish P8.

Sunday Fixed- NiS – Phoenix

  • Mike- P9- initially came from 23rd up to 13th second run I faded a bit then I got wrecked not too much damage but the car wasn’t the same after that then green flag stops at the end to split the run in half and that saved me got a lot of spots, and I finished P9.
  • Justin – P wrecked out

Wednesday Open -NiS – Las Vegas

  • Tony – P28 was pinched against the wall when an asshat made it 3 wide when i backed off he wrecked the car next to me causing damage. I just couldn’t recover. Remember when iRacing used to be fun?
  • David – P17, screwed over by caution timing and then slammed into the wall, then slammed out of line  by a guy cutting the apron on a track where the apron isn’t racing surface.  I’ve been caught up or hit 13 out of 14 nis races,
  • Brad- P21 wrecked again. Started p8 and was in the top 10 until lap 24 when the leaders wrecked for about the third time. I could not avoid it and ended up with 11 minutes of damage. I went 9 laps down getting enough fixed to where the car was drivable. Managed to get all the damage fixed and made up 7 laps with lucky dogs. This is one of the best tracks on the schedule but unfortunately no one in NiS can drive it. Trying to stay positive!

Thursday Open- NiS – Las Vegas

  • Mike- P5! I was super fast and had a problem where I spun out three different times on my own in the middle of the corner, totally embarrassed and lost all my track position each time, but was able to drive back up through there. Never was really in contention to win but nice to get a top five
  • David – P 28 wrecked.  Guy was pinching me early, fixed 7 minutes.  Get wreck on last lap because a guy turns another guy into me.  I’m tired of this
  • Joe – P3

Official Series

League / Hosted Races

MEC Sebring 6 Hour

  • Will, Brad and William – P4 in class (we think). Official results have not been posted. We had a rather chaotic start to the race as Weaver qualified and was planning to start but switching Discord channels messed that up. Westbrook jumped in the car with lottery seconds to spare. He would avoid multiple accidents in the opening laps. The car was turned over to Weaver and he got into a good rhythm quickly. I would take over the car for my double stint but would get a Safety Car about 20 minutes into the first stint. After the restart we were just outside the top ten but would get murdered on the second lap after the SC before going into LeMans. The car was heavily damaged and we had to use our fast repair. That would cost us a lap that we never got back. I would have a sin early after a second stop for tires. I spent about 2.5 stints in the car and would turn it over to Westbrook and Weaver to finish. Westbrook would have a lazy spin early in his stint resulting in very minimal nose damage that did affect top speed. That was fixed when Weaver got in to take us to the checkers. We should have been p10 overall and p4 in class. A very good points day after the DNF in the season opener at Daytona.
  • Tom & David & Kyle- p10,  we had a car spin in front of us and got rear ended to loose our wing.   I just keeps happening
