I don’t know all the details exactly but ultimately there was an issue found deep inside the code that forced us to post-pone the last patch until Today. This caused significant set backs on a lot of the development work that had been done to the next gen car and other cars. Rather than push out another patch with the new build weeks away, it was determined that the best course of action would be to continue the development work and release it with the June build.

Staffer Tony Gardner announces that they have adjusted the color tone in the sim and, (maybe?) fixed the yellow color tones many have complained about.
For a while now we’ve been too a little too warm in tone, and the sun has overpowered the color mix too significantly, while the blueness of the sky was washed out. We fixed this and the fix went out in today’s patch.
The “yellow” world complaint should be gone or minimized and the colors do definitely pop more now and it looks better.
Ok, with the NextGen taking over for NIS in 2022 I know there are going to be some people who miss regular stock car racing. This isn’t a dig at the NextGen car, just the style it provides is not fun to some.
With current member number shooting way up, I think it is time to offer NIS – Cup, NIS – Xfinity, and NIS – Truck
Cup would stay the same and run 50% races with the special 100% races
Xfinity would run 100% races with Xfinity schedule (would usually be the same laps as NIS Cup)
Trucks would run 100% races as well from their schedule offering a shorter race of the three but longer than the regular weekly series.
Running Xfinity and Trucks at 100% would offer something different than the regular open series, and we don’t often get full races with these two series. If you tried to shorten them to 50% it would end up the same as the regular series and not offer anything different. I believe most people run NIS for the longer races.

“Not much sexy in this build. I’m happy for Hickory. The GT3 cars feel a lot different as well as the indycar. I feel I can attack harder into the corners than I could. The GT3 cars always felt like they had no grip going into the corner, than no power coming off”
“If they waited for Mt Washington until build week it would’ve seemed better”
“I think because the cup car wasn’t effected at all that makes it less too”
Season 4 is here! What addition/change are you enjoying the most in the new season? ?https://t.co/ABNN3IAOlq
Hello fellow stats nerds. You might remember me from the end of season stats that I’ve been posting up into each official series forum section… for like the last 3 years?
As you can expect, doing this was a fair amount of effort and since I’ve been focused on investing my time into developing and supporting my iRacing Reports Discord Bot project, I concluded that doing the end of season stats stuff as I had in the past wasn’t an efficient process.
Use the filters at the top of that page to help you find the series/season you’re interested in.
I can still generate custom outputs for teams/drivers, that include specified people in all the tables and highlight their dots in the charts. This will become a bundled feature for my Discord Bot supporters for 2021 Season 4 onwards.
We ran races this week with some of our Coke drivers for @NASCAR on multiple configurations and the racing looked terrific! I think we are very close to nailing down the final version. The curb you see on the apron was a new addition this week based on the racing we saw. https://t.co/rWXs9VpaJF

Ellis – DQ’d- w six to go. Kept getting run over from behind for some reason tonight like three different times. I spun off that road and hit the wall and the wheel spun quickly in my hand got a card up in it in it like sprained my thumb.
Rochette P10 few people in my and Mike’s split had server issues. I had issues got booted under caution made it back down 3 laps. Enough cautions made it back to lead
Sunday Open
Greg pwrecked
Hall – p wrecked early 26th
Sunday fixed
Mike -p11 – got involved in several wrecks that were not my doing but soldiered on. Got a drive through for too many incidents but still had a decent run
Tyler – P8 – ran my normal, did not qualify and started in the back. Took my time and chipped away at the guys killing tires. Finished with a 8x dodging the disasters but finished strong. Thanks to the team for helping with pit strategy and when to push it.
Brian – P13 ran pretty well all night. Stayed in the top 10 until the GWC when I was dive bombed and the car pushed me up the track allowing several cars to pass.
Race Bristol:
Wed Open:
Hall –p21. Absolute wreck fest. Sloppiest Top Split race since Martinsville. 5 times unable to avoid wreck, and twice it was severe damage. Climbed to 21st by survival even with the BF at the end on the 5th impact. Just took the lap penalty and lost no spots. Iracing’s hamsters had a stroke twice during the race, and the second time the glitch that was happening to everyone took a lap from me. For as tough as it was, 21st not horrific.
Ellis – p26 – was working inside lane and a guy got under me and got turned
Kyle P – P9 Started 14th and worked my way to the front. Ran consistent top 10 and then last 28 laps i hammered down and worked my way up to 5ht. Lap car lost it with 2 to go and i got collected was down 400 RPM but got to restart 3rd. I tried to block the low line and keep a top 5 but just didn’t have the power. Only received a 4x the whole race and kept the car straight until that last caution.
Greg PWrecked by Server issues
Rochette P engine dun gon blown up after some damage in a couple of cautions
Thurs Open
Ellis – p.2 – led the most laps – this one hurt – almost had it won – ran off the tires
Rochette P3 stayed out of trouble ran tires off on last run… i was hoping Mike and the other guy wrecked, i need a win this year
Official Series
D Fixed ARCA Brian P2 Started on the pole. Fell to 4th in the first half trying to save tires and made my way back up to 2nd by the end.
Tony- P18 just not fast at Richmond but stayed out of trouble and on the lead lap
OBRL ARCA Series
Brian Southern National P20 Dirt tracked the qualifying and wound up taking the pole. Then wound up starting in the pits when I lost sound gridding. Small Track with lots of cars was tough to make many positions.

Bryan Black33 Tweeted about his regrets in missing the dynamic track changes in iRacing. Chris Overland was among those who commented his agreement.
I try to keep things positive but man do I miss dynamic track on iRacing. The game felt so alive & I wish the NASCAR industry could have experienced it during the PI. We were searching everywhere for grip & heat naturally balanced most lanes. Would love to be part of the solution
It was literally perfect, track heat determined the fast lane, as the sun went down shadows would cool different parts of the track and create new grooves, and there was no single “fast” line. I miss it so much. https://t.co/ANyhLe81jX

According to new reports, NVIDIA’s Hopper architecture could tape out at the start of 2022, or late 2021 at an early estimate. Meanwhile, mass production of GeForce RTX 40 series GPUs is expected to start in the middle of next year, so an autumn or winter 2022 release could be on the cards for NVIDIA’s next-generation graphics cards.

Yvon Cognard posted in the forums that he created an open source command line application allowing the capture of multiple camera angles from a replay where you can record the whole replay or configure specific ranges. It controls OBS and creates a single clip by camera angle, making the video editing synchronization easy. Writing scripts, you can also control the camera live, as it plays, and avoid editing.
You’ll find the application and more details here:
Ellis – p2 – Led some laps and just had nothing for the winner – on the longer run he would gap me for sure – he would have a 10 second lead and I would short pit and wipe it out but eventually he would get by me and drive on – great run to back up my win
Greg – PWrecked from lead with 100 to go
Hall – P12 top split. Should have been top 10, but self made mistakes threw it away including missing the pits on green flag stop. Insane long run speed.
Rochette P7 had speed stayed in top 10 through the first green flag stop when cautio. Came out just as i was leaving box putting me a lap down, moss the lucky dog for the next caution decided to take a wave around which did not work in my favor as i somehow ended 3 laps down for what was probably the longest green flag run i ever had in a nis
Sunday Open
Rochette- P3 definitely had a great car again but lapped cars that wanna race ya and also not understanding what a wave around is kept me behind em
Greg p Back problems
Hall – p wrecked out by a clue less lap car
Race Richmond:
Wed Open:
Hall –p13 tough top split, green flag running except early caution, climbed from p22 start
Ellis – p.17 – was loose on the 1st caution and took a guy out. I moved forward and ran top ten pretty much as high as 5th. About 35 to go a guy on the inside came up into me and 5 minutes damage.
Kyle P – P4 Started P9 and hung out in the top for most of the race. About halfway through I slid through turn’s 3 & 4 on a restart brought out the caution. Fell back to P-19 and worked my way up to a P4 finish. With Stephen L getting a P3 in the same split.
Thurs Open
Ellis – p.4 – Ran back half of top ten basically. At one point I spun off but saved it and worked back up – I was on outside once and they checked the guy behind me hit me, knocked me down into inside car, which wreck him. Turns out to be the same guy i wrecked on Wednesday. Later he came out many laps down and waited until I came around then ran hard side be side with me pushing me up in the corners… I eventually let off to get away from him.
Rochette P13 caught in late wreck blah
League / Hosted Races
FastTrack Sim Racing League –
David – p8 wrecked early, heavily damaged. Car got the and bounced into me as I was passing
Greg pwrecked out I went to enter the corner and he slowed way up and I got locked to him
Mike – pblown up – was p7 before the caution and caught a lap down – took the wayaround and it put me back in the crap – where someone 3 cars ahead decided to let off the gas just after getting to 4th gear for about 2 seconds which stacked us all up and i got heavy front end damage and blew up shortly after.
Tony- Pwrecked out
Stephen – p3

Will Lyon noticed that at the 30:37 mark of the Sounds of iRacing video it clearly features Indy Cars and at the 10;12 mark shows the GTE cars. They’re all taking the same line as each other and no one’s crashing, so…does this mean they’re AI and are both coming to AI in the next build?
Ermin Hamidovic has been a sim racer for 6 years, but never on iRacing. However he tried iRacing for the first time and posted a YouTube video of his thoughts and comparisons with other racing sims.
Davis Tucker announced in the forums that next season you will be able to hit ctrl-z any time when out of the car and then use the mouse to move around the world. The mouse changes your orientation, left/right buttons move forward and back, center button + mouse movement makes you strafe, and the scroll wheel changes elevation. They have an existing ctrl-z camera already, but it requires the camera tool be up and it does not use the scroll wheel or center button.
Dave Kaemmer, CEO of iRacing, sat down for an interview with Cnet Roadshow discussing iRacing, it’s history and future and comparisons with other driving games.
His thoughts on the comparison to other racing titles he said, “Every racing game manufacturer talks about how realistic they are, but from my biased perspective I think that’s all bullshit.”
Most racing games, Kaemmer mentioned in the article, create a fantasy aesthetic where you, the player, are really, really good at driving — even if you’re not. “The reality is if you get a Ferrari and you don’t know what you’re doing, you’re going to crash it very quickly.”
Kaemmer isn’t dishing details, but says iRacing’s long-awaited rain model is nearing completion, and that there’s much more to come: “I’ve been in an R&D phase now for a while. I’ve got a pretty big set of changes that I’d like to make that I think will make good improvements.”

Ellis – p.11 – was running top 5, first stop rights only got the lead – led many laps – The last run we had to save fuel, then later we got racing and i made several tactical errors on which lane to pick when… A good learning race and redemption a bit after last night
Rochette P stupid gah damn lap cars going 3 wide and wrecked, caugt in it
B open- Kyle – Daytona P all i do is win. Started P3 and just hung out behind the leader. On lap 18 the caution came out. I took fuel and tires and just waited my time behind the leader saving gas. 9 laps to go i made my move for the lead when we came up on lap traffic. Held off the field for a P1.

Ellis – – p1- Ran top 10 all night with no incidents but couldn’t catch the leader, and I even had better tires, but at 50 to go he pit I didn’t and it went green from there.
Hall = P11, top split, nice finish for car 27, even had an unplanned 4 wide moment
Rochette P5 caught in some wrecks miss timed pace car on getting damage fixed was 3 laps down but comeback kid my way through back to lead lap and landed another top 5
Sunday Open
Brian – p4 Screwed up qualifying. Set was stable and fast. Stayed consistent and worked my way up to 2nd, but settled in at 4th
Rochette- P11 Man Richmond fun to race but i got used and abused this morning got wrecked 3 times 16x and 17th after the checkered going through the grass on avoiding a wrecked at the line.
Kyle – P P-7 started P-11 and had a good run until about halfway and couldnt keep the tires straight and fell back to the 20’s was able to work my way to a P-7 in the finally 10 laps.
Sunday fixed
Brian – P14 Got in a lot more trouble in this race. People were just too aggressive with lots of cautions. Accidentally used up my extra tires on lap 122. Held on to p14 with car #34
Tyler – P13. started dead last and kept the car clean for the most part. Most passes were done under caution or in the pits. Longest green run we had was about 35 laps with everyone struggling to pass and keep traction.
Race: Tally
Wed Open:
Hall – p12, taken out buy a guy diving below the yellow line, luck on a GWC to get a lot of spots back
Tom D. P wrecked
Ellis – p.1 – Ran top 5, never passed anyone to the right side, basically slowly gained positions through pitting and pit strategy. Led the most laps all the way to end. Late caution for a GWC I didn’t want to see had me on fumes. Another GWC would ruin me but never came thanks to DB Bowman. Check his twitch at twitch.tv/dbbowman to see my win… I owe DB a case a beer big time as he did not challenge me for the win, but agreed to push me and finish 2nd….Class act – Two wins in a row. Check out his twitch
The winning move was the last GF stop, he got up beside me and was positioning to beat me off pitroad, but I had a very perfect stop and got off first…
Rochette – P10 helped Mike to the lead on a restart where he stayed and i fell back. Last restart cars in front wrecking killed my momentum with the lead pack
Thurs Open
Ellis – p. 4 – forgot to change out of the q set – so lost a lap taking tape off. Eventually got a lucky dog and worked my way back up – good fuel strategy put me up front near the end just had a bit of damage and couldnt pass at all…
Rochette P9 Got my annual Dega Pole, along with fastest lap and 14 led. Non caution wreck in front broke me away from the main pack and my 4 car line couldnt regain
Official Series
A Fixed
Ellis – p- 24 – couldn’t pass at all, ran 5th the whole race – then caution at end so gwc – guy starting third thinks he is going to let his bud in so he checks up and i run over him and we all wreck.
Kyle P – P1-Started P-11 Car 29 and ran top 10 until pit cycle and got up to P-5 and just waited my time until the last caution with 12 to go Was able to draft my way to 2nd and just rode there until the last lap and made the move to go to the high side and left the leader all alone and i caught the draft of a lapped car and had the help of the car behind me to make the pass coming to the Tri-Oval to secure the win on the last 300 yards of the race.

FastTrack Sim Racing League

New team Tifosi driver AJ Pritchett showed us what’s up by WINNING in his first ever start in the NASCAR iRacing Series – Fixed at Atlanta with a margin of winning at 0.000 in true Harvicks 1st win fashion!!! Welcome to the team bud. #winningpic.twitter.com/Ps03a527YA
Klingerman Sport Tweeted a ‘Mic Check’ segment that followed their drivers Bob Bryant and Isaac Gann’s radio chatter with their spotters thru last weeks Atlanta Coke Series Race.
Jenna Fryer also Tweeted that Kyle Larson’s car in the Pro Invitational Race will be in his “Drive for 5” paint, a campaign that supports causes he worked with during his suspension last year.
#NASCAR: @KyleLarsonRacin will return to the iRacing Series featuring his new foundation and the "Drive for 5" campaign that supports causes he worked with during last year's suspension: https://t.co/fQAVL6Irj2
David Schildhouse reported Tuesday on Twitter that Clint Bowyer, Dale Earnhardt Jr and Austin Cindric (driving the 2 car) will be in the race Wednesday and Kevin Harvick and Brad Keselowski
Timmy Hill Tweeted his disappointment in not being invited in the Pro Invitational Race despite competing in every cup race the last two seasons, And Jenna Fryer added that he won one of the iRacing events last season when it was the only sports on tv last year.
Sim racing "controversies" are assuredly some of racing's most stupid controversies, and they often seem largely self-inflicted (all of this is also self-evident).
If a guy won in the @iRacing Pro Series last season and runs Cup weekly, he should have a slot.
Nate Ryan, Dave Moody, Justin Melillo and Matt Weaver all jumped on the #LetTimmyIn Twitter campaign to have Timmy Hill added to the Pro Series lineup to the point the it was trending on Twitter.
Who cares how many people compete in the iRace? #LetTimmyIn
My final word on the topic because it is beyond ridiculous: The guy not invited to race is LITERALLY in the promotional graphic. pic.twitter.com/CJIjMM88Z9
Austin Cindric Tweeted yesterday morning that he had some big shoes to fill substituting for Brad Keselowski and suggested that Timmy Hill might be the man for the job.
Big shoes to fill subbing for BK. Tight squeeze into his virtual seat. Knees are in the virtual digital dash, and I didn't even have time to pack virtual tear-offs…
…And by yesterday afternoon Team Penske, along with Nascar made it official that yes, Timmy Hill will be in the number 2 car for the Pro Invitational Race.
Cody Hanley asked on Bob Pockrass’ Twitter account if there would be prize money for the Pro Invitational races, and he replied no, but Steve Myers responded that they will be giving away $5000 to the charity of choice of the winning driver for each race.
We, @iRacing, are giving $5,000 to the winner's charity of choice for each race.
Some interesting videos this week including an iRacing dirt promotional video and streamer Dave Cam with a video trying his hand at plate racing at Talladega in the Carb Cup.
Mike Ouellette regrettably posted in the forums the sad news of the passing of Black Adder Team Owner John King after battling brain cancer. He was a passionate driver, team builder and mentor to his fellow friends and iRacers.
Simon Butler from the UK noticed one day that his iRating had dropped even though he hadn”t raced. He checked his results and found that he had results in races while he was at work. He wondered if someone had used his login to race and contacted iRacing. Staffer Jason Bryfogle did some research and found that the questioned races were indeed from a different IP address
Porsche Motorsports posted a tweet letting fans of the Porsche All-Star race that you can vote for which car they will race in the finale at Monza between the Cayman GT4 Clubsport, 911RSR or the 911GT3 Cup car.
Motorsports reporter Adam Stern reported on Twitter that Nascar is working with the city of Chicago and iRacing to scan it’s streets to make a street course for the fifth iRacing Pro Series event.
.@NASCAR today is announcing that it worked with the city of @Chicago + iRacing to scan its streets to make for a street race for the fifth Pro Invitational Series event.
Adam Stern followed up, rehashing a report that the Sports Business Journal announced in February of 2020 that Nascar had discussions about holding a possible real life street race around Chicago and Los Angeles, and speculated that the Chicago Street Course on iRacing may be an experiment in furthering the discussions
SBJ reported in February 2020 that @NASCAR had discussions with Chicago’s @SoldierField and the @LAColiseum about holding a possible real-life street race around their venues, so the iRace experiment could indicate that those talks are moving forward.
Jason Perry Asked in the forums if the Chicago track will be available for the general subscribers, or just fire the Pro Invitational event. Steve Myers for iRacing assured him that iRacing would not have done the project if we could not put it up for sale! I expect it will be finished in late May in time for this event.
We would not have done the project if we could not put it up for sale! I expect it will be finished in late May in time for this event.
And this is a very different project than Monaco. The vast majority of the track is on the lake side of a park. Yes we are going to have to model some of the city but not as much as a track more centrally located in a city. When it is done it is going to be beautiful. The parks are going to be gorgeous and there will be an iconic shot at the start/finish line (if it does not change) with the fountain in the back.
In a news article on the Hendricks Motorsports website they report that Greg Ives, the crew chief for the 48 team said “iRacing is a huge tool for us as engineers and crew chiefs for us to understand what we may be challenged with. We try to set up changes here and there; it doesn’t technically correlate 100% but it does give you a general idea of what changes may do.”
An article in the LA Times documents the initial run of the Pro Invitational Series last year with the suspension of the regular season and it’s continuation this year while actual races are still being held.
Steve Myers posted on the socials giving Kyle Larson a lot of credit in the development and testing of the Nascar, Bristol Dirt experiment.
Kyle is leaving out that he helped us for the last two weeks test Bristol Dirt to give us his feedback on how he thinks the cars will drive. This is a rare situation when we have zero data on how a car will perform on a new surface. https://t.co/DgIRuNXr6I
iRacing Staffer Alex Gustafson posted a note in the forums the iRacing is aware that the suspension on current NDM cars is weak in some situations. They are working on the problems on a car by car basis and will release updates when they are happy with their testing results.

Staff member Otto Szebeni let everyone in the forums know that the merchandise page has been updated with new products.

Some very high praise indeed from IRL driver Ryan Hunter-Reay who tested on the new Long Beach track and was very impressed.

What Do You Think of Cedar Lake, That’s Ruts! [Brian]
Some of the drivers noticed that while running the Big Block Modified at the new Cedar Lake Speedway that ruts are being created in the corners making the racing even more enjoyable. Tyler Hudson responded that apparent the weather and the construction of the Big Block Modified tires is playing a major role in their creation.
According to members in the forums Cedar Lake Speedway has a small 1-1/2 foot gap in the wall at the flagstand that is causing a bug where the cars (sprint cars especially) are being unrealistically launched sideways when it’s hit. Staffer Michael Bergh is now aware of the issue and it will be addressed in an upcoming patch
Mike Ouelette announced in the forums that after a two year break the World Cup XI will be returning. The World Cup of iRacing is a club competition to find out which club has the most depth of talent across a wide variety of racing diciplines.
Love the show and so happy to hear that you guys have a sponsor and a website now. Already been on the site and saved a quick link. I joined iRacing in April and absolutely love it. Your show has really helped keep me on track with good and bad equipment and things to stay focused on. So Many tips you guys have shared and the feedback is amazing. I was able to even race with you guys during a charity race at Daytona for iK9Hero.
The input you guys give on all the topics is great and really gives myself and others top quality information. However I am beyond curious as to what you guys are using equipment wise. What rigs y’all got! We would love to see some shots of your rigs with a breakdown of what you have. Also what do you plan on adding?
Also, it would be so cool to have a official iRacers lounge livery on Tradin Paints that listers could use to help promote and spread the word.
Currently I’m saving for a DD but until that happens I’m on a 80/20 rig by 4playracing using a Specter UltraWide with the GOAT G27 wheel and shifter. Using a i7 HP Omen with a 2070 RTX Nivida.
Again I love the show and can’t thank y’all enough for all the tips and info that is shared. Hope to see y’all on the track soon.
Greg, Chris, and Tony were in the broadcast booth calling the Ladies of iRacing ‘Ugly Sweeter Party’ Street Stocks race at Michigan with the call of a thrilling finish!
Greg West posted that the guys at iRacing aren’t satisfied with their current painter. In fact, they have been working for several weeks to make it much better than it is now. Although the work is far along, it wasn’t quite ready for the build, but we do plan to release it before next season. It will have the new 3D car viewer built in, so you won’t have to jump back and forth between the paintkit and the car info page to see your changes in 3D.

Love love love it, this is pretty much a new style of racing – getting runs and keeping them it is so wide that you can – 60 cars is a blast, there was always cars coming and going – wrecks self clear off the blanking –
Mike – p dnf – was wrecked on 1st caution – was going straight down back stretch 12inches off the wall, and a guy is like trying to side draft me or something and hooks me – car damage made it too loose to drive- don’t appreciate a simple apology from that driver
