World of Outlaws Round 10 Charlotte [Brian/Mike]
Monday Night was the 10th and final week of the NOS Energy Drink iRacing World of Outlaws Series at the Dirt Track at Charlotte, Alex Bergeron entered the race with a 30 point lead over Hayden Cardwell after his disappointing finish last week at Williams Grove and in a great position to win his third consecutive series Championship.
Aussie Tim Ryan posted fast time in qualifying and took the win in the first heat, grabbing the pole for the feature.
Heat 2 went tp Greggory Lemay (LE – MAY) after his best qualifying run and best finish in the heats.
Bergeron started outside row one in Heat 3 beside pole sitter Kendell Tucker. However Tucker remained fast and consistent for the win, with Bergeron grabbing second.
Hayden Cardwell started on the pole for Heat 4 and gets a much needed win to keep the pressure on Bergeron for the series championship.
So, setting up the feature we have Tim Ryan on the pole, Cardwell starting P3 and Bergeron starting P7 needing a top ten to lock up the championship, if Cardwell wins the race.
When the green dropped, Tim Ryan had the speed to separate himself from the field even after regrouping twice with cautions to win his second race of the year without much of a challenge.
Cardwell quickly took 2nd at the start of the race, but never really challenged Ryan for the win finishing P2.
Bergeron had some tense moments early in the race with heavy traffic that he eventually cleared, settling comfortably in 4th and capturing his third straight title and taking home the $10k champions prize.
The winner of the Jim Beaver eShort Course World cup brought to you by Fistful Bourbon was Holden Heitritter. And remember to catch the broadcasted replay on CBS Sports net on February 14th at 1:00 pm eastern time.
Last wee we reviewed a video called Brick x Brick chronicling the former driver and paraplegic Robert Wickens as he shows his rig that has let him get back into racing. Staffer David Tucker posted the video on the forums and announced that he is adding support for dual throttle and brake inputs in iRacing, letting him to be able to combine paddles if needed and use a handbrake and paddle together as well.
Jon Brown posted a video in the forums of a last turn pass at Spa where a driver goes off track to get the win and asks if this should’ve been a valid win.
Champweb wrote a note to iRacing and all of their top brass expressing their displeasure with the problems and communications, going on to suggest that their next season release be focused on infrastructure and personnel updates instead of new vehicle and track releases.
Ty Majeski posted his anticipation of the 24 hour race and also a video explaining that his vaunted sim rig (Laptop with a G27 clamped to his desk) may no longer be up to the task. He will be using his roommate’s, Derek Kraus’ VRX rig as a backup.
Update: We’re going to try again in the AM 😂 better to wreck 20mins in rather than 12 hours.
Coke driver Casey Kirwan’s 24 ended when a teammate was broadsided by a GTE car that blinked out and reappeared in front of them in the horseshoe curve.
This was our unfortunate end to our race. GT3 blinked out and got sent off out of the esses and that sent him flying through the grass into the horseshoe and we got nailed. This is simply how all these races have gone for us over the past year 😂 https://t.co/J2y5GCQGCf

World of Outlaws Round 9 Williams Grove [Brian]
Monday night was week 9 of the iRacing Nos Energy Drink World of Outlaws Sprint Car Championship from Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, PA. With last weeks win Hayden Cardwell pulled within 2 points of the leader, and 2 time defending champion, Alex Bergeron.
The first surprise comes early when Lewis Hewett takes fast time in qualifying ahead of Bergeron who always has great speed at the Grove, and Cardwell qualifies P5
So Hewett starts on the pole with Cardwell on the outside in the first heat. Hewitt takes an early lead but with Cardwell closing late, tries a desperate slide job on the final turn that is ultimately unsuccessful finishing P2.
Heat 2 found Bergeron on the pole with former series champion Tim Ryan on his outside. Bergeron takes the early lead, but Ryan finds enough speed to get to his inside on the front strait where they make contact. Bergeron get the worst of the contact, hitting the wall, but managing to take second and missing the chance to add a heat race point to his slim series lead over Cardwell.
Cameron Merryman takes the win in heat 3 ahead of James Edens and the final heat is won by Tyler Schell.
After 2 desperately run B main races we come to the feature event of the night with Hewitt on the pole and Tim Ryan on the outside with championship contenders Hayden Cardwell and Alex Bergeron starting side by side on row 3.
The drama started right away when ont he first lap Cardwell spins after getting into the back of Bergeron in the middle of turn 4. He will be restarting in the back of the field, P20 with a monumental challenge to just stay in the championship hunt.
When the green comes back out Lewis Hewett takes the lead until Tyler Schell grabs it from him on lap 6 with Alex Bergeron on his heals. The 2 remain nose to tail for the remainder of the race and Tyler Schell grabs his first win in the sim’s top series. Bergeron holds second and Cameron Merryman grabs third. Cardwell can only make his way up to 12th finding himself 30 points behind Bergeron going into the finale at The Dirt Track at Charlotte
Joe Gibbs Racing has landed Coke Series 4x champion Raya Alfalla and series rookie, and iRacers Lounge guest Femi Olat who will take over the famed 18 car.
McLaren Shadow [Greg]
The newly formed McLaren Coke Series team has announced their inaugural drivers for the upcoming season, rookie Allen Boes and Blake Reynolds
Big news! 🚨🎮 #McLarenShadow will be entering a team into this year’s @eNASCARCocaCola championship.
Alex Horn posted a video of what may be the most improbable pitstop ever where an Indy car clips the wall at the pit road exit at Monza, barrel rolling an incalculable number of times and lands, albeit in rough shape, in the pit stall ready for service.
Christopher Bell continues his early dominance at the Chili Bowl nationals taking the iRacing sponsored midget to victory lane in Thursday’s John Christner Trucking Qualifying Night, setting him up for the A Main Feature race on Saturday.
Congratulations to Gabriela Jílková, (Quick Gabi) for winning the Porsche All Star Race Saturday with second going to Matt Campbell and Dan Suzuki in third.
Defending Porsche Tag Heuer Series Champion Sebastian Job redeems himself after technical difficulties in week 1 to take the win in week 2 at Barcelona. Second went to Josh Rogers and third going to Charlie Collins.
So i use simracingapps count down to pit road, and it has a visual, MPH, in tenths. So if pit road speed is 55, I can use that meter and increase my speed from 55.0 to 55.9 without it beeping at me – Being able to see it to the tenths helps you find that spot on the throttle when your closer to 56 instead of 55..
Poll – Should Pit Lane Speed Limits be Tightened?[Tony]
Also in the forums there was a poll as to whether to keep the speed limits as they are, make the tolerances tighter, or enable a zero tolerance pit speed patrolling.
Porsche Cars Canada, Ltd. is seeking the fastest 40 Canadian Sim Racers to race in an epic 8 event series. The Porsche Esports Sprint Challenge Canada will take place on iRacing.com with two classes – the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR and, new for this year, the 911 GT3 Cup. To enter, set your best times at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park, Circuit Gilles Villeneuve and Laguna Seca from January 29 to February 11, 2021 using the 911 GT3 Cup. The quickest lap time from each track will be added together for one total and the fastest 40 drivers from Canada will qualify to participate in the race series.

A new series called Brick by Brick has launched with it’s first video chronicling former IRL driver and paraplegic Robert Wickens as he returns to racing in the sim world. This episode explores the sim rig that has been created to serve his specific needs.
Galaxy iRacing League [Mike]
The Galaxy iRacing League (GiL) was started a couple of years ago to race the NASCAR “A” class cars. The race lengths, scoring system, playoff procedure and rules follow hand-in-hand with the real-life NASCAR Cup Series. The goal of this league is to create a community of race enthusiasts that are respectful of one another on and off the track, and enjoy racing in series that closely simulate their real-life counterparts. The Admin team is diverse, ranging in age and areas of the country that we reside. One of the admins is a retired NASCAR official and a crew chief, and another one of the admin’s is a retired championship-winning NASCAR crew chief. 2020 was the first full-time season for Galaxy Cup. We are excited about the 2021 season, as we have added more drivers and some prizes. We are working towards title sponsorship of the series and race purses.
The GiL is centered around the Galaxy Cup Series. Most of the races run Saturday nights. There are 5 races that run on Friday nights, because those are the races that the real-life Cup series runs Saturday nights. The GiL currently also runs a Truck Series. This series runs on Friday nights on the same race weekend as the real life Truck series. If the Galaxy Cup is racing Friday nights, then the Truck Series races on Thursday. Let me know if there is any other information I can get to you! Dave Fuge, Jr.

World of Outlaws Round 8 – Kokomo [Brian, Mike]
Round 8 of the NOS World of Outlaws World Championship was at Kokomo Speedway with Alex Bergeron holding a 10 point lead over Hayden Cardwell and no one else even close.
Bergeron took the lead early in the feature with Cardwell up to 4th after the first lap.
By lap 10 Cardwell had made his way up to 2nd and was following Bergeron outside of striking range as they worked their way thru traffic, Then, with just 6 laps to go, Zane Smith spins in front of the leader Bergeron and he can’t avoid the collision, getting significant front end damage.
But in a stroke of good luck, the caution actually came out just before the contact, so Alex was able to resume the race in front Cardwell was able to avoid the mess and was able to take advantage of Bergeron’s ill handling car, take the lead and the win. with James Edens taking second and Tyler Schell i third.
Bergeron fell to the fourth spot which was good enough to maintain a razor thin 2 point lead over Cardwell heading into the 9th round on Monday at Williams Grove Speedway.

World of Outlaws Week 7 – Cedar Lake [Brian,Mike]
Monday night marked Round 7 of the NOS Energy Drink World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series which brought us to the new Cedar Lake Speedway coming into this week Hayden Cardwell held a slim 4 point lead over Alex Bergeron and Kendel Tucker a distant 3rd.
Bergeron has fast time in qualifying while Cardwell turns in an 8th place finish. and runs away with the first heat earning him pole position for the Feature race
James Edens gaps the field to take heat 2, and Tyler Shell wins heat 3 in a photo finish over Adam Elby.
In heat 4 Zane Scott starts from the pole, but Cardwell quickly clears him on the outside to take over the lead on lap 1, but on lap 2 Cardwell jumps the cushion on turn 2 and wrecks sending him to the back of the field and JD Brown taking the checker.
So, with the points in the heat race Cardwell’s lead had already evaporated before the feature even starts, but still having to advance from the B main to avoid a complete disaster and putting Bergeron firmly in control of the championship.
Cardwell started P4 in the LCQ, took some damage racing for second, but still managed finding the speed to take the win and getting the 18th grid spot in the feature.
In the feature event Alex Bergeron grabbed the lead fighting off challenges from Tyler Schell who was running him down from the extreme high line when on lap 27 he missed his line, hits the wall in turn 3 and flies over the fence, but no cations came out and no fans were injured..
James Edens also put some pressure on Bergeron, but ultimately ran out of laps finishing P2 with Alex Bergeron taking his 4th win of the season. Hayden Cardwell works his way all the way up to P4 averting a points disaster, and landing 10 points behind new points leader Bergeron heading into week 8 at the bullring ok Kokomo Speedway next Monday night.

He responded that he hopes not, because it would have meant a suspension of the Nascar regular season. I hope not. 'Cause if it does, that means the "regular season" of Nascar Cup racing has been interrupted or postponed again like last year!
Ajibola Lawal posted in the forums that he’s had a blast with the new iR-01 car at Suzuka and Silverstone, but has noticed a sharp drop in participation since it’s introduction. Greg West agreed with someone who responded that the holiday season along with a fairly unpopular track, and to give it some time.

Updated iRacing Apparel [Brian]
Staff member Otto Szebeni let everyone in the forums know that the merchandise page has been updated with new products.
The super high speeds and tight racing has already produced some fantastic wrecks. None to be outdone in a video posted and edited with sound of Jonathan Goke with a near perfectly executed barrel roll.

Joel Keller was the engineer who worked on the new Dallara iR01. He’s responded to some of the community feedback and made changes to the handling, steering speed and force feedback as a result and will keep making adjustments as more feedback comes in.
Some very high praise indeed from IRL driver Ryan Hunter-Reay who tested on the new Long Beach track and was very impressed.

What Do You Think of Cedar Lake, That’s Ruts! [Brian]
Some of the drivers noticed that while running the Big Block Modified at the new Cedar Lake Speedway that ruts are being created in the corners making the racing even more enjoyable. Tyler Hudson responded that apparent the weather and the construction of the Big Block Modified tires is playing a major role in their creation.
According to members in the forums Cedar Lake Speedway has a small 1-1/2 foot gap in the wall at the flagstand that is causing a bug where the cars (sprint cars especially) are being unrealistically launched sideways when it’s hit. Staffer Michael Bergh is now aware of the issue and it will be addressed in an upcoming patch
Mike Ouelette announced in the forums that after a two year break the World Cup XI will be returning. The World Cup of iRacing is a club competition to find out which club has the most depth of talent across a wide variety of racing diciplines.
Love the show and so happy to hear that you guys have a sponsor and a website now. Already been on the site and saved a quick link. I joined iRacing in April and absolutely love it. Your show has really helped keep me on track with good and bad equipment and things to stay focused on. So Many tips you guys have shared and the feedback is amazing. I was able to even race with you guys during a charity race at Daytona for iK9Hero.
The input you guys give on all the topics is great and really gives myself and others top quality information. However I am beyond curious as to what you guys are using equipment wise. What rigs y’all got! We would love to see some shots of your rigs with a breakdown of what you have. Also what do you plan on adding?
Also, it would be so cool to have a official iRacers lounge livery on Tradin Paints that listers could use to help promote and spread the word.
Currently I’m saving for a DD but until that happens I’m on a 80/20 rig by 4playracing using a Specter UltraWide with the GOAT G27 wheel and shifter. Using a i7 HP Omen with a 2070 RTX Nivida.
Again I love the show and can’t thank y’all enough for all the tips and info that is shared. Hope to see y’all on the track soon.

It will have the new 3D car viewer built in, so you won’t have to jump back and forth between the paintkit and the car info page to see your changes in 3D.

Week 5 Lernerville [Brian]
Monday night marked the half way point of the NOS iRacing World of Outlaws Sprint Car series at Lernerville Speedway with Hayden Cardwell holding a narrow 5 point lead over Alex Bergeron.
Series rookie Logan Rumsey wins the first heat and grabs the pole for the feature race with Cardwell finishing second. Alex Bergeron wins heat number 3 and starts on the inside of row two for the feature.
When the feature starts Bergeron gets by the pole sitter Rumsey early, but on the opening laps Cardwell goes over the banking of the track and brings out an quick caution when he returns, damaging several cars, but he turns out to be ok and kept his position on the track.
When racing resumed Bergeron is able to hold off Cardwell until Kendell Tucker gets into the mix and Bergeron checks out to claim his third win in 5 races with Tucker grabbing second and Cardwell dropping to third.
With the win Bergeron reclaims a slim two point series lead over Cardwell as they pass the half way mark of the season. Next up is Weedsport Speedway, followed by Cedar Lake, which was just announced during the broadcast. Neither track has yet to host a Sprint Car Championship race.
Steve Myers posted on Twitter that he would give away an iRacing VIP account at the Snowball Derby if either Ty Majeski or Ryan Luza win their respective races, or 5 total VIP accounts if they both won. He gave Matt Weaver, Motorsports Editor of Autoweek, who was attending the event, the decision as to how the prizes would be given out.
.@MattWeaverAW since you are boots on the ground for the Snowball I have a contest for you. If @TyMajeski wins his race you get to give away an @iRacing VIP account. If @RyanLuza wins his race you get to give away another. If they both win you get to give away 5! You decide how.
Coke Series driver Ryan Luza finishes a self described disappointing P16 after running much of the night in 5th-6th.
Disappointing night. Unofficially P16 after running 5th-6th the majority of the race. Stagger opened up badly and restarts on the top didn’t help out our really loose @iRacing #53. Still an awesome weekend, thanks to everyone who helped make it happen! Hope to be back next year!! pic.twitter.com/yAeBGBSwPM

iRacing dropped an introduction video on Youtube to their newest oval Dirt Track, Cedar Lake Speedway, a three-eights of an mile track located in New Richmond, Wisconsin. The track was constructed in 1956 and it hosts a weekly NASCAR racing program consisting of Late Models, Modifieds, Super Stocks, and Midwest Modifieds and has seen drivers such as Kenny Wallace, Tony Stewart, Travis Kvapil, Greg Biffle, Sterling Marlin and Paul Menard race at the track
NEW CONTENT – New Rallycross Configurations [HAll]
iRacing has added Rallycross configurations to two existing tracks, Brands Hatch and Charlotte Motor Speedway. Brands Hatch combines new and old, mixing the original 1980s and 90s turn 1 with some newer ideas in Graham Hill Bend and a dirt Joker inside of McLaren/Clark Curve. Charlotte is raced in the interior roval area with areas of dirt covered asphalt, and a quick offroad area bridging two sections of the track.
In further Rallycross news Greg Hill announced in a forum post that in few short months we’ll be continuing our Dirt Road expansion with Barcelona RX. Something that was hinted at a few weeks ago when the mentioned a few new Rallycross configurations were in the works.
Podcast listener and European road racer Dannis Pearl letting us know some information regarding the Scottish Knochill Racing Circuit, one of the four premier road courses iRacing has planned for 2021, describing it as a small, twisty circuit similar to Lime Rock, great for Skippy’s and GT3’s
Hey guys European road racer here. Love the pod – you’ve converted me to turning left. Just to say – you are going to love Knochill. Small, twisty – think Lime Rock – great for Skippies and GT3 pile ups. Loved in Scottish motorsport. Everyone – yes everyone – who ever races there has history at the track. Was the best thing on Project Cars 2 in the Formula Rookie (Skippie type car). The Euro circuits are massive news here (even more so that the imaginary oval ) Dennis Pearl (please use this name on air if you mention, not my weird email) PS – keep up the road content. Your man who talks road is great, but do tell him Nurburgring is where they have the race tracks. Nuremberg is the place they had the post World War II war crimes trials. They are different.
NTM on IndyCar – Ohhh, multiple Tire Compounds [Tony]
iRacing posted a short, 9 second clip, of an Indy car hitting the wall at Long Beach with two possible clues. for one, it seems as though the Indy car has the new damage model and two, the tires appear to have the red lettering indicating mutiple tire compound options.
iRacing has apparently been secretly colaberating with Dallara to build fron the ground up a new vehicle cames the Dallara iR-01. The Dallara iR-01 is a blend of modern technology and classic grand prix heritage exclusively built for the iRacing sim. With it’s V10 900hp motor along with it’s low weight and absence of modern driving assists, the Dallara iR-01 is meant to be made to challenge drivers and make for better racing.
ON October 20,2018 a racer named Finn Sim, predicted that iRacing would have a car designed by Dallara for iRacing that would only exist n the virtual world. Kodos Finn Simm.
Decoupling the top tier open wheeler (and the WCS) from a real life series is a very smart move. This side steps the issues we’ve seen in the past where the title sponsor gets bored, or the real series folds, or cancels the contract and works with another company to create a competing product. It also removes the pressure of having to update the car on a timetable that is completely outside of iRacing’s control. I notice there’s no branding on the tyres, so they’ve got free rein there too.
I’m with you on this, Jim, can’t wait to test-drive this. This is a motorsport simulation after all, very glad iRacing has the balls (and vision) to move in this direction. Why is it it that we think real-life Motorsport should be driving innovation in simulators?
I can see a time coming when it will be the opposite, iRacing has taken that first step. Well done, Devs. Often, in the business world, it takes courage to be creative, to be different, with many naysayers along the way. Some won’t like what you are doing here, that’s ok, many more however, appreciate the efforts. Keep at it.

Coke Driver and Virtual Racing School instructor Keegan Leahy has developed a Class A Cup Car setup guide for free on the VRS website. It goes over several different conditions from loose to tight, to just plain slow and how to make setup adjustments to correct these issues.
Tyler Hudson announced in the forums that beginning with 2021 Season 1, the provided iRacing default setups for the Pro 2 Trucks will be the highly requested setups built by Mike Budzein and Corry “CAL” Lewis.
Tyler Hudson posted the 2021 Season 1 Schedule with a couple of key notes including the Centipedal Circuit being placeholders for Cedar Lake in Dirt Oval and Long Beach for road. Plus two new Dirt Oval Series, iRacing 358 Modified Series (Dirt Oval D License) and Big Block Modified Series (Dirt Oval C License). Also the Dallara Formula iR )Road C License Class)
Beau Albert on Twitter asked if he gets a prize for being the first person to land his car in the circle fountain at the New Long Beach track and posts a picture to prove it!
Greg West posted that they have added setups that should allow for racers to be top split competitive. While different drivers will have different styles, each setup built also now takes full advantage of the “notes” tab on the setup menu to give recommended adjustments if you are looking for a specific behavior change.

Listener Joe Hanson-Gates emailed the show with his review of his DOF Reality P6 Motion Rig. He mentioned that it was delivered in two weeks (they said it could be up to 6) and was built in roughly 4 hours. He says that it performs brilliantly for ovals and needs some tuning to get roads right because the pitch under heavy braking and acceleration is too pronounced. He also notes that, as a commercial pilot it performs very close to the Level D simulator used at his workplace and overall is very pleased with it.
Mike, great racing with you in the Carb Cup yesterday, it’s fantastic when you guys recognize loyal listeners.
I purchased a DOF Reality P6 motion sim from DOF Reality in the Ukraine. Ordering was easy, shipping was quicker than I thought. I had heard it could take up to six weeks, I received two large, heavy boxes in about two weeks.
Building it took about four hours, stretched out to five because I kept taking coffee breaks. Wasn’t hard to put together, Barry Rowland’s video helped a bit, but as he was upgrading from the H3 to the H6, things were a bit different for him. My kit came mostly put together, especially the motor assemblies.
The sim has six motors and moves in six degrees of freedom.
The rig needs to be balanced, so weight is a little bit of an issue. The P6 is a “professional-grade” setup over the H6 which is more “consumer-grade”, the P6 can handle a bigger weight load with its more powerful motors.
I’ve installed my Simucube 1 direct drive wheel, my HPP JBV pedals, Thrustmaster Warthog flight sim controls and a button box. I race in VR, so no monitors are mounted to the rig. Buttkickers are added below the seat and I’ll be adding a Sim Racing Studio Shake Plus which adds 6 small pucks to the seat for additional shakers.
As far as how it performs, in flight sim it’s absolutely brilliant. I’m a commercial pilot and it’s very close to the Level D (meaning FAA approved for takeoff and landing currency) Simulator we use at work. For iRacing I have a lot of tuning to do to get it perfect. For road racing, the acceleration and braking effects are too pronounced, the sim throws you around, I’m still working to reduce those effects. For oval, it’s absolutely brilliant. I feel the car pushing me to the right in the corners, I can feel the rear end start to break loose and correct it immediately. I’m still coming to terms with it, my times are slower until I get used to the movement, it’s going to change the way I drive, I’m going to have to be smoother in my control inputs.
Overall, I’m very pleased with it. It’s a little tough to climb into, but once you’re in, it’s fantastic!
